Birmingham, along with Selma and Montgomery, were touchstones in the civil rights movement where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led massive protests which eventually led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 ending voter disfranchisement against African-Americans. You Can't Win if You Don't Get in the Game!

We love good competition; The Falcons versus anybody, The Hawks versus anybody, The Braves versus anybody....President Obama versus Romney! Great debate last night, but it doesn't even matter if you're not registered to vote! We've got to get in the game folks! We are ALL concerned about the direction the country is going, the legacy we're leaving for the next generation and how we're living right now today, but know that the people we elect are just as concerned as we are on a national basis, but they can onlycarry out what the people hold dear.....so don't stay at home thinking you don't matter-let's make our voices count! Get in the Game!

The deadline to register to make your vote count is Oct. 9th, so today KISS 104, Men/Women of Distinction and Salem Bible Church are giving you an opportunity to get it in! Voter registration is happening until 7:30 pm tonight and there is an opportunity for your pressing questions to be answered by our community leaders with a Town Hall Meeting starting at 6:30pm. All of this is held at Salem Bible Church-West 2283 Baker Rd. Atlanta 30318. Our panel includes; State Representative, Keith Heard, Sate Senator, Emanuel Jones, Councilwoman, Felecia Moore, Former Labor Commissioner, Michael Thurmond and Former State Senator, Connie Stokes- they will answer your questions about the economy, eduation, health, foreclosures and more. Veronica Waters and I will be your moderators for the evening.

Don't wimp out before the battle is over- get in there and fight for what you believe in! You Matter, your kids and grandkids matter! We have an individual responsibility- even if things don't go the way you envisioned them-at least you stayed in the game! Atlanta - if you can RISE UP(love that slogan) for the Falcons- you can certainly RISE UP for YOURSELF!

Hope to see you today @ Salem Bible Church! Rise Up Atlanta! I'm Twanda Black and I approve this message!LOL!
