No one was hurt as severe weather pounded metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Baseball-sized hail smashed car windows in Fayette and Coweta Counties, and a possible tornado damaged a convenience store and at least a dozen homes in Floyd County.

A suspected shoplifter is in critical condition this morning, shot Monday by a Lilburn policeman. Police Chief Bruce Headley says when the 61-year-old man was caught at a Family Dollar on Lawrenceville Highway, the officer tried to stun-gun him-- but the man reached for the weapon. At that point, says Headley, the officer feared for his life, grabbed his gun and shot the man twice, hitting him in the chest and the face. The man had been trying to steal a frozen pizza.

Two teenaged girls are accused of threatening the 16-year-old rape victim at the center of the case against two Steubenville, Ohio, football players. One of the girls, apparently a cousin of one defendant, tweeted that the victim "ripped my family apart" and that the next time she saw her "it will be a homicide." Another threat was posted on Facebook. The 15- and 16-year-olds are due in court today on menacing charges. Trent Mays, 17, and Ma'Lik Richmond, 16, were charged with penetrating the West Virginia girl with their fingers, first in the back seat of a moving car after a mostly underage drinking party on August 11, and then in the basement of a house. The two broke down and sobbed after being convicted in their bench trial. They will have to serve at least one year in juvenile jail; Mays was sentenced to an additional year because he photographed the naked girl. Prosecutors portrayed the girl as being so drunk she could not have consented to the activity.

The Sandy Springs woman whose husband was arrested for shooting her eight times last April is now filing for divorce. Adina Parson was nearly killed when she was gunned down outside her Sandy Springs apartment. Her husband, Michael, was later caught in Texas and police say he wanted his wife dead because he was engaged to another woman. Parson is also seeking a restraining order, in case her husband ever gets out of jail.

Georgia's attorney general kicks off an effort to end child sex trafficking, not just by rescuing the victims and then prosecuting the pimps--but going after the customers who pay for sex with children. AG Sam Olens says they are criminals, too. A new campaign called "Georgia's Not Buying It" features some of Atlanta's pro athletes in a PSA, including the Falcons' Harry Douglas, the Hawks' Devin Harris, and the Braves' Tim Hudson.

Last night's Atlanta Hawks game against the Dallas Mavericks at Philips Arena was briefly interrupted when a cheerleader fell during a routine, injuring her head and neck. Paramedics were called, and the injured cheerleader was taken out on a stretcher. Doctors at Atlanta Medical Center checked her out and sent her home. The hot-shooting Mavs set season highs for points in a half and a game while beating the Hawks 127-113.

A former lead singer of the "The Spinners" has died. Bobbie Smith died over the weekend due to complications from pneumonia and influenza. He was 76.

Neighbors in a Dunwoody subdivision are on high alert after suspicious behavior by two men involving a 12-year-old girl. As she walked near her Springfield neighborhood off of Chamblee-Dunwoody last Friday evening, every time she would stop they vehicle would stop and the driver would walk around to the back of the SUV. The last time it happened, she ran to a neighbor's and the man and his passenger sped off. The vehicle is described as a white older model Honda Passport or CRV with a both a purple bumper sticker and a Love, Peace, and War bumper sticker.

Pope Francis is now formally installed as the 266th pope. During his inaugural Mass homily, he said his will be a ministry of service, and urged people to protect God's creation, especially the weakest and the poorest of the world.

Sugar Hill, Georgia will not become SugarDaddie.com USA--at least not anytime soon. The dating website offered the Gwinnett County town $3.75 million to change its name for the next 10 years. That money is about 20% of the city's annual budget. Mayor Gary Pirkle said he was considering it, because it would fund their road resurfacing projects for the next eight years. But he turned it down, because he said it was less than the offer SugarDaddie.com made to Sugar Land, Texas.
