Boy Threatens Mom For Not Buying Bread; Rihanna Goes To Court with Chris Brown

By Veronica Waters

A football coach is now an accused flasher. The head coach at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian School, Reginald Burnette, was arrested last week for public indecency. He is accused of exposing himself to a woman in an east Cobb subdivision while she was waiting on roadside assistance to arrive to fix her flat tire. The woman told police that a driver in a blue van pulled up, asked for directions, flashed her, and drove off. Burnette played as an NFL linebacker for the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A Sandy Springs physician is
under indictment for child molestation and aggravated sexual battery. Dr. Kelly Thrasher is charged with molesting an underage girl during a sleepover at his home. The 40-year-old also is awaiting trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a 38-year-old woman at his home in November.

Rihanna accompanies Chris Brown to court. The woman he assaulted in 2009 threw him a kiss as Brown walked into a courtroom to face allegations that he did not properly complete the community service he was sentenced to after the beating. Prosecutors have suggested there was either sloppy record keeping or fraudulent reporting. The judge requested more information and scheduled a new hearing for two months later. Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, says Rihanna was in court to show support and because she "thinks it's utterly ridiculous what they're doing to him."

An Athens boy has been charged with making terroristic threats after he allegedly told his mother, "I wish I could kill you." The 12-year-old was arrested Tuesday night after he and his mom got into an argument over a lack of bread in the house. The victim told police her son flew into a rage when he was unable to make a sandwich. By the time officers arrived, the boy had broken the door frame to his mother's bedroom, punched a hole in the wall, and thrown a fan down a flight of stairs. Before he was taken into custody, officers discovered several knives under his bed.

Countless people go through Hartsfield-Jackson, but the same can't always be said for their belongings. New federal documents show $300,000 of air travelers' valuables were lost, stolen, or damaged on the way through Atlanta's airport from 2011-2012. The TSA reimbursed only about 35-grand's worth of the missing items. While some TSA agents have been caught stealing, there are no records of it happening with Atlanta's TSA officers.

Commuters and business owners in Gwinnett County are praising the DOT's latest move to relieve congestion in metro Atlanta. Work will begin this spring on a $6 million dollar diverging diamond at Jimmy Carter Boulevard and I-85 in Norcross.

Move over, Tyler Perry. A group of investors is negotiating with London's Pinewood Studios Group to operate a new film complex on 280 acres near Fayetteville. It would be the largest film production complex in Georgia, with five sound stages in a 150,000-square-foot studio. Construction could get underway this spring, bringing up to 1,500 new jobs.

The Boy Scouts of America says it won't decide until May about whether to ease its policy of excluding gays. Officials say the delay is needed because of "the complexity" of the issue.

State troopers now carry assault rifles. In the latest of a series of moves to beef up security at Georgia's capitol, visitors may notice officers carrying some heftier firepower. Public Safety Commissioner Colonel Mark McDonough says state capitol troopers now carry M-6s--a version of the military's AR-15 assault rifles--for faster, potentially life-saving response in an emergency. He says troopers got trained on how to handle active shooters five years ago--and now, they have better weapons for it, too. He says they are taking proactive measures to protect what he calls "the people's house."

Demonstrators who say the national debate on gun control shouldn't focus only on assault weapons are gearing up to rally at the corporate headquarters of GLOCK in Smyrna tonight. Organizers say the event is being held in the wake of shootings at Price Middle School and Morehouse College in Atlanta and shootings in other areas of the nation.

Southlake Mall in Clayton County forecloses. The AJC reports it affects the mall's common spaces, but not the anchor tenants or day-to-day operations. The mall is 40% vacant. Gwinnett Place Mall also foreclosed in 2012.

Forecasters say another big storm is brewing for the Northeast. The National Weather Service is describing the storm as potentially dangerous, especially for New England, where as much as 2 feet of snow could fall. The snow is expected to start tomorrow morning.

Robin Roberts returns to the anchor chair on Good Morning America February 20--five months to the day of her bone marrow transplant.

The KISS 104 weather forecast: cloudy, rain likely, high of 51.
