Atlanta Public School officials say the Fulton County district attorney has put a hold on purging educators involved in the highly publicized cheating scandal. Officials with APS say the majority of the educators are gone, but still some remain because the district attorney's office is still holding the investigative files of 40 teachers, including former superintendent Beverly Hall. The state Professional Standards Commission is recommending suspending or revoking the certificates of all 178 educators. Nearly 120 have challenged the proposed sanctions. The district attorney declined comment on the issue.

The woman behind the movement to get a Georgia man released from jail, has died. Anita McNeil died Saturday from breast cancer. Mcneil was instrumental in fighting to get her husband John McNeil freed from prison where he is serving a life sentence for shooting a man at his home in Kennesaw. McNeil contends the 2005 shooting was in self-defense. Last fall, a judge ruled McNeil should be released because of multiple trial errors and a jury that was not aware of Georgia's stand your ground law.


Police in Cobb County are asking for the public's help into a crash that killed two teenagers. Authorities say the accident happened early Sunday morning in Marietta that's when police say the vehicle ran off the road hit a brick sign and caught on fire. The crash killed 19-year-old Stephen Nolasco, and his passenger, 18-year-old Matthew Bennett. Investigators need to find out what happened moments before the accident are asking anyone with information to please call (770) 499-3987.


 The hostage situation in Alabama is now in its seventh day. Authorities continue to communicate with the man they say is holding a 5-year old boy hostage in an underground bunker on his property. The FBI says Jim Lee Dykes is accused of gunning down a school bus driver Tuesday and then abducting the boy from the bus. Meanwhile a funeral for the bus driver ,66-year-old Charles Poland, was held Sunday.

After a game delay the Baltimore Ravens came out on top and are the Super Bowl champions. The Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 Sunday night at the Super Dome in New Orleans. The game was delayed 34-minutes because of a power outage. After the victory, hundreds of fans poured into the streets of Baltimore to celebrate. As for the halftime show, Beyonce gave a spectacular performance with special appearances from Kelly Rowland and Michele Williams of Destiny Child.


A South Carolina man says he's still in shock after hitting the jackpot not once, but twice in a span of just four months.  Lottery officials say the man won his first 200-thousand dollars back in September and then scored another 200-thousand dollars at the end of January.  The unnamed winner says he plans to pay for his kids' college education and retire.
