Following a rocket attack in Libya, the Marines are sending an anti-terrorism team to the country to beef up security of US diplomats. The U. S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans on his staff were killed when the rocket hit their car. A mob of protesters attacked the consulate, angry over the trailer of an anti-Islam film that portrays the prophet Muhammad as a womanizing fraud and madman.
"There is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None," said President Barack Obama. The president says America will work with Libyan officials to find those responsible for the deadly attack.
Speaking by phone Tuesday from an undisclosed location, writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that the 56-year-old intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.
A Mississippi man is denied bond for performing at-home butt implants that killed an Atlanta woman. Morris Garner, who lives and dresses as a woman named Tracy Lynn Garner, is charged with injecting Karima Gordon's buttocks in March with a substance that might have been counterfeit silicone at his home in Jackson. The 37-year-old Gordon, who worked as an adult entertainer in Atlanta, started feeling sick on the drive home, and a friend called Garner--who allegedly advised her to buy some cough medicine. She died in the hospital a few days later.
The latest iPhone may be unveiled by Apple today at a 1:00 event in San Francisco. The expected iPhone 5 would have a larger screen, faster processor, stronger battery, and access to the 4G network. An internal probe clears two Atlanta police officers of racial profiling when they pulled over Tyler Perry February 24. Perry wrote on Facebook that he'd made an illegal left turn to make sure no one was tailing him. He said the six-minute questioning was "hostile" and that he felt threatened. The officers, on the auto theft task force, say they were checking Perry's Porsche after the illegal turn because they thought it was similar to one on a list of stolen cars. A black officer who pulled up recognized Perry and told his colleagues who he was.
