2 Powerball Winners; Lawyer: Teen's Shooter Was Scared

By Veronica Waters

Two winning tickets in Arizona and Missouri will split last night's $587.5 million Powerball jackpot. There were 8.9 million winning tickets in all--one ticket in Georgia hit for a million dollars, and the smallest prize is $4, for hitting the Powerball number, 6. The other five numbers are: 5, 16, 22, 23, 29. The jackpot winners have 180 days to come forward and claim their prizes.

President Obama's lunch guest today will no doubt wish the roles were reversed: Mitt Romney has been invited to join the president in the White House dining room. White House spokesman Jay Carney says there is no "specific assignment" Mr. Obama has in mind for the ex-governor, but that the men will discuss moving the country forward and making the federal government more efficient. No cameras or microphones will be present.

The family of a Marietta teen killed in Jacksonville brings his body home today. The funeral is Saturday for 17-year-old Jordan Davis. Accused killer Michael Dunn is jailed on 2nd-degree murder charges, but claims he felt threatened by the teens in an SUV after he told them to turn down their music and thought he saw a gun. The dad of another kid in the truck denies that.

"There was no gun and there are no gang members, and his lawyer needs to get off that," says Steven Stanislaus. His son says that when Dunn walked up to their SUV he said, "Lower the damn music down, I can’t think." But the shooter's lawyer, Robin
Lemonidis, has said that Dunn asked politely, “Would you mind turning that down?”

Stanislaus' son says he did turn town the music but that Davis then replied, "Turn up the music and f**k him." He says that's when Dunn opened fire. Lemonidis says Dunn was scared and believed the teens were threatening him and calling friends to come kill him.

“Kill that mother**er, that mother**er dead, you dead bi**h, and then he sees that much of the shotgun coming up over the rim of the SUV which is up higher than his Jetta," Lemonidis told reporters. "And it’s-all he sees are heavily tinted windows, which are up and the back windows which are down, and the car has at least four black men in it. And he doesn’t know how old anybody is, he doesn’t know anything, but he knows a shotgun when he sees one.” Dunn is a gun collector. His attorney contends he didn't know he had shot anyone, just thought the eight bullets he fired into the truck had "scared" the teens. As for why he didn't call police, she says he didn't want to "throw himself to the wolves in a strange city." Even though he heard on the TV news that the shooting had been fatal, he still drove 160 miles home the next day.

Police did not find a gun in the teens' vehicle.

Dunwoody Police may never know why a hit-and-run driver refused to stop for officers as he crashed into multiple vehicles along Ashford-Dunwoody Road. One of two officers directing holiday traffic near Perimeter Mall shot and killed the suspect after he attempted to run them down in the street. The man had driven erratically through the police parking lot and the lot of an Exxon gas station before that.

The Senate Judiciary Committee today looks at making it a smidge tougher for law enforcement to snoop through your e-mail by requiring them to get a search warrant before looking at a Google, Yahoo, or other online account. Right now the 26-year-old law says they only need a warrant for e-mails less than six months old.

Bobbi Kristina Brown gets a ticket after a car crash in Alpharetta. Her black Camaro slid off the road and landed into a ditch Wednesday morning; she was standing next to it when police responded. She lost control of the car but was not driving under the influence, according to police, and she was cited for failure to maintain lane.

Lindsay Lohan has another brush with the law. The 26-year-old star of "Liz & Dick" was arrested early this morning in Manhattan after an argument with another woman at a nightclub. She's charged with 3rd-degree assault, accused of hitting the woman in the face.

The KISS 104 weather forecast: sunshine, high of 62.
