The Sandy Springs man wanted in connection with the April 20 shooting of his wife outside their Roswell Road apartment is in custody in Texas. Michael Parson, 42, was arrested during a traffic stop in Tyler. Police haven't discussed a motive. Adina Parson, 40, is an attorney with the state Department of Public Health. She was shot eight times as she left the Residences of Morgan Falls apartments, and remains in critical condition, unable to speak. The AJC reports that her relatives were shocked to learn that Mr. Parson is the suspected shooter. He had been with his wife at the hospital in the days following the shooting. Now he is facing various charges, including aggravated assault and giving false statements in writing.
One man is dead after a Saturday shooting in Fulton County. The search is on for two suspected gunmen, identified as 22-year-old Travon "Tray" Menefee and 20-year-old Christian "Butter" Williams. Fulton County Police say they responded to the Hickory Park Apartments on Delano Road after a report of shots fired. Antonias Williams was shot and killed; another man was wounded.

The last of the eleven FAMU Marching 100 members facing felony hazing charges in Robert Champion's death has surrendered to Orange County authorities. Twenty-year-old Lasherry Codner left the jail in a vehicle with DeKalb County plates after posting bail. All 11 suspects were granted bonds of $15,000. Rattler Nation reports three of those charged are drum majors who marched in front of Champion's casket on the day of his funeral. A criminal investigation of the band's finances continues, as does a probe by the state university system into whether university officials ignored warnings about hazing.

Another drop in gas prices greets you at the pump this morning--right as the summer driving season is set to begin. Crude oil prices have gone below $100 a barrel, and that has lowered gas prices seven cents over the past two weeks and 12 cents over the past month. AAA says a gallon of regular is at $3.63 in metro Atlanta, 22 cents cheaper than the national average.

A new program is allowing Georgia prison inmates nearing the end of their sentences to volunteer for farming jobs. The Departments of Agriculture and Corrections are trying to find a way to ease the labor shortage that cropped up after the immigration crackdown. The program will be expanded if it shows continued success.

The parents of the Woodstock teenager shot and killed by a SWAT sniper last week are criticizing the way Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison handled the situation--even though the 16-year-old was threatening cops with a .357 Magnum. Sixteen-year-old Andrew Messina was shot as he pointed the loaded gun at officers. The GBI is investigating the shooting, which happened last Wednesday in the Eagle Watch subdivision.

A double-whammy home invasion: did a pair of thieves hit the same place twice? DeKalb County Police say Saturday on Gavinwood Place, two armed men forced a 63-year-old homeowner to open his safe at gunpoint, before tying him and his 12-year-old daughter up, then stealing $200,000 worth of rare coins. Police say the same house was burglarized just a few days before the home invasion. The only description the homeowner could give police was that the crooks wore dreadlocks.
