The discovery of a woman's body behind a Tara Boulevard apartment complex is now officially a murder investigation. The partially nude body of 30-year-old Riverdale mother of two Rochelle Thomas was found around 7:00 Wednesday night. Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen says Thomas knew her killer. They're not saying how she died or a motive behind the murder.
Buford High School students are reeling an assistant football coach dies of a heart attack at the school Thursday. Thirty-year-old Ryan Daniel was with the school for nearly five years. He collapsed during a pick-up basketball game.
No bond for the 22-year-old woman who's accused of running over and killing Atlanta Senior Police Officer Gail Thomas. Chasity Nicole Jones of Stone Mountain is charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and DUI.
Classes are canceled at a Tae Kwon Do academy in Cobb County. The owner, Master Young Jin Shim, has been arrested, accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl. The girl tells police she had sex with Shim in 2009; their relationship lasted about a year and ended when she was 14.
The Commerce Department says Americans spent more on cars and trucks, and companies restocked their shelves in the final three months of 2011, but growth was held in check by the biggest annual government spending cuts in 40 years. The economy grew at a 2.8% annual rate in the fourth quarter.
President Barack Obama is wrapping up a three-day tour to boost proposals he made during this week's State of the Union address. Today, the president goes to college. At the University of Michigan, the president will spell out his plans to keep education costs down at the nation's colleges and universities. The idea is that schools should get federal dollars based in part on their record for graduating students and keeping tuition costs down.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says 20 years of public service is enough; she is making it clear she wants to step aside. Clinton said at a town hall meeting that she's ready for a break after two decades of being on the "high wire of American politics." She says after President Obama is re-elected, she will only stay on the job long enough to see her replacement named.
A jury awards a Kroger shopper $2.3 million in damages after a fall in which he slipped on crushed fruit at a store on Ridge Road near Douglasville. Craig Walters' back injury and surgery piled up $135,000 in medical bills. His lawyers were able to disprove Kroger's claim that their in-store cameras didn't cover that part of the store; he also showed that the footage may have been deliberately recorded over.
An administrative law judge won't rule for several days on whether President Obama's name should be taken off the Georgia primary ballot. A new birther case in front of the court that handles ballot disputes claims that Barack Obama isn't a natural-born citizen because his father was not.
In KISS news about your health: too much time at work is just...depressing. A study of civil servants in the UK found those who spent 11 hours or more a day at the office were much more depressed than government workers who clocked eight hours and went home. Researchers noticed an increased level of cortisol, which is a stress-related hormone. They also found that spending that much time at work leads to conflicts at home.
