Was Your Craigslist Car Purchase Hot?; JHud May Testify in Murder Trial

By Veronica Waters

A Craigslist scammer may have sold hundreds of hot cars to innocent buyers.  Atlanta Police say for the past two years, Marcus Haliburton stole cars, then created online ads using matching pictures he pulled from legitimate car dealer websites.  Halliburton allegedly advertised the cars for $9,000, but conveniently "forgot" the title when meeting the customer.  So he'd offer to take $4,000 and come back with the car's title the next day--then disappear.  Investigators have found nearly 200 Craigslist ads they say they've linked to Halliburton.  They're asking people who may have purchased a car from him to come forward to let cops examine their cars, without fear of facing charges.  Halliburton is jailed in Fulton County on theft charges.

The prosecution rests.  Now, attorneys for Hemy Neuman will begin his insanity defense at the Dunwoody daycare murder trial.  An FBI cellphone analysis expert testified Tuesday that during a seven-month period in 2010, Rusty Sneiderman's widow had far more cellphone contacts with Neuman than she did with her own husband.  Mr. Sneiderman was killed in November of that year.

Mitt Romney heads into next week's Super Tuesday with primary wins in Arizona and Michigan.

A Senate seat Republicans were counting on may no longer be a sure thing, as Olympia Snowe of Maine announces she's not seeking re-election for a fourth term.  Viewed as a moderate, Snowe said that she is fed up with the polarized, "my-way-or-the-highway" ideologies in Washington.

A bill passed Tuesday by lawmakers in the Georgia House would force teachers who cheat on standardized tests to forfeit any bonuses they earn for improved student achievement.

Your stock portfolio is looking even sweeter.  Tuesday, the Dow closed above 13,000 for the first time since May 2008.

Emory University is alerting students and staff and testing those who may have been exposed to a worker who had tuberculosis.  A local TV station reports the school didn't know that the custodian had TB--until he passed away.

Jennifer Hudson is on the witness list for the upcoming trial of the man accused of killing her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.  The Chicago Tribune reports it's not clear whether prosecutors will have to call her to the stand.  Court filings indicate she had advised her sister against marrying William Balfour, whom she'd known since they were kids.

The lawyer for one of the three suspects in the videotaped beating of a 20-year-old man outside a McDaniel Street grocery story denies that his client yelled anti-gay slurs during the attack.  Jay Abt points out that the voice on the video may have been that of the person holding the camera.  It's an important legal distinction as the federal authorities consider whether hate crimes charges should be filed in the case.

How not to rob a bank, 101:  39-year-old Trevor Gladston Jr.'s plan was to rob the Wells Fargo in Chamblee and use a taxi as a getaway car.  One problem: he forgot the cab fare.  Not only that, he didn't even get any cash from the bank because when the teller read his demand note, she simply ducked behind a bulletproof window.  So police say Gladston took off in the taxi, but when he got to the MARTA station he said he needed to get the cab fare from his car. Afraid he was trying to stiff her on the fare, the driver flagged down a MARTA cop who didn't know about the robbery and talked Gladston into going back to the bank to get some cash.  On the way back there, a cop spotted the taxi--and the Atlanta man was put under arrest.

Is the next iPad about to be revealed? Apple sent out an announcement Tuesday, saying they would have a "special event" next Wednesday.  The message simply had a photo of an iPad with the line, "We have something you really have to see--and touch."
