Deputies Refuse to Evict Woman; Wi-Fi May Stunt Man's Little Swimmers

By Veronica Waters

  • Herman Cain is assessing whether his presidential bid can survive the latest claim of sexual impropriety against him. Tuesday, he told aides that he is keeping his campaign schedule for at least the next few days. Cain denies the claim of a Dunwoody woman that the two carried on an on-again, off-again affair for the past 13 years.

A 103-year-old woman is still in her northwest Atlanta home this morning, despite eviction plans by the county. Fulton County deputies and movers showed up as scheduled Tuesday, but after seeing Vita Lee, could not bring themselves to follow through with the eviction. She credits God, saying, "I knew they didn't know what they were doing. God doesn't let you do wrong." But all the commotion sent her 83-year-old daughter to the hospital. The family has been in negotiations to buy back the house from Deutsche Bank since its foreclosure in 2009, but bank officials are resisting taking their money, according to family members.

  • The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools announced Tuesday the DeKalb County School District will keep its accreditation, but under advisement, so SACS will keep close watch for continued progress. Cyber security expert Greg Evans says one tip that can help protect personal information is to make sure that it is all password-protected. Evans also says to be careful what you download, because hackers may entice you with apps for games, music or ringtones to get access to your info. Software security company McAfee says Androids are the most commonly-targeted devices.

  • The Los Angeles judge who sentenced Michael Jackson's doctor to four years in prison for the singer's death says Dr. Conrad Murray was motivated by a desire for "money, fame and prestige" and cared more about himself than his patient. Judge Michael Pastor says Murray is a danger to the community. Before sentencing Michael Jackson's doctor to the maximum four years, the Los Angeles judge raked Murray over the coals for what he called a pattern of deceit, lies and betrayal of trust. He says the recording of a slurring Jackson was the doctor's "insurance policy." Murray's sentence is likely to be sliced to two years or less because of overcrowding, and he could serve some of it on house arrest.

An Argentine study finds that leaving a wi-fi-connected laptop right on his lap may reduce a the motility of a man's little Olympians because of the electromagnetic radiation.
