A minister charged with shooting a rock-throwing teenager is denied bond by a Fulton County magistrate--and his family is angry. Alex Williams' namesake son contends the judge seemed to ignore signs that the rock-thrower was a threat, saying, "There was a gun found on the one that was shot. So the police found the gun, they witnessed several other teenagers running away. So he was in danger of his life." Williams is being held in the Fulton County jail on one charge of aggravated assault. A friend says Williams bought the gun after neighborhood criminals started vandalizing property at the Mechanicsville Church of God in Christ. Others say Williams was getting hassled because he has been trying to rid the neighborhood of thugs and drugs. The injured boy was hit in the hip and was listed in stable condition at the hospital.

McMillan reportedly first claimed Robinson was running alongside the bus--but the stroke survivor uses a walker. Robinson suffered a broken left arm, cuts, and bruises. McMillan is charged with reckless conduct.

A representative says Houston is taking part in an outpatient program for treatment for drug and alcohol dependency. The rep didn't say whether it was drugs or booze or a combination of both that was causing the problem. But she says Houston went in on a voluntary basis as part of what she called her "long-standing recovery process.''

After doing his own research on the law, a Henry County judge reverses his ruling banning a Muslim man from court because he wouldn't remove his kufi--his religious headcovering. Last week, the judge told Troy "Tariq" Montgomery's lawyer that he thought the state rule allowing religous headwear applied only to women. Montgomery was turned away from the court on three occasions by the judge because of his hat.
Bank of America will let you overdraw your account--as long as you text them permission. Last year, BOA stopped transactions if the checking account was short of funds. Under a pilot program coming out next year, customers can text the bank to okay the charge--even if it means paying a $35 overdraft fee.
A computer glitch has caused some homeowners in Fulton County to get inaccurate tax assessment notices...with exorbitant estimates due, the county says, to a calculating error. When the actual tax bills are mailed, the numbers will be correct, according to the county. Hundreds of thousands of assessments going out in DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Cobb are expected to draw thousands of appeals. Gwinett's chief appraiser says he's already had 5,000 appeals filed.
The Navy is updating its training so that chaplains can perform same-sex unions once the Pentagon moves to remove the ban on gays in the military. The unions would only be performed in states that recognize gay marriage but chaplains wouldn't have to do them if it violates their own religious beliefs. Also, the military won't agree to housing or benefits for same-sex partners.
Governor Deal has signed legislation that increases the age requirements for children under eight to ride in child seats--unless they meet certain height/weight requirements.
A DeKalb County man busted last month for growing weed won't be charged--because the evidence went up in smoke. The 36-year-old Stephen Senette was arrested when firefighters responding to a blaze at his Tarian Drive house spotted plants and grow lights in the basement, and called in the cops. Senette was charged with growing marijuana, but since all the evidence burned up in that fire, no on can prove what it was. He claims he was growing hydroponic tomatoes and salad micro-greens--and says he wants his name cleared.
