It's the last day of Georgia's legislative session. An immigration bill similar to Arizona's contentious law is still hanging around, but there is strong opposition from agriculture and business groups making it an uphill battle--even with Republicans in control. Other bills include a measure to allow residents here to buy health insurance from other states, and one involving tax breaks for Delta Air Lines.

In a speech calling for bipartisan efforts to reduce the deficit, the president offered a long-term proposal to trim the nation's deficit by $4 trillion dollars over 12 years. Mr. Obama says that all areas of the budget are fair game, including ending the tax cuts for the wealthy.
April 15 is tax day, right? Not this year. Thanks to a Washington, DC holiday, procrastinators get an extra couple of days to get those 1040s to Uncle Sam. April 16th's Emancipation Day, marking the end of slavery, falls on Saturday this year--so the holiday is being celebrated tomorrow--pushing the tax deadline to Monday, the 18th.

Bryant says he didn't mean what he said in a moment of anger, and is concerned that those who look up to him make sure they don't take away a message of hate from his words.
