Men Charged With Molesting Girl, 10; Diabetes Drug Danger; Too Sexy For The Citi? Fired Busty Banker Sues

By Veronica Waters

Two Fulton County men and their aunt face multiple sex charges after a 10-year-old girl gets pregnant; an FDA doctor says a diabetes drug could "put you in a cemetery;' a New York banker who says she was fired for being too hot is now filing suit.  Get details of today's KISS News Now!

  • Two Union City men are charged with the sexual molestation of a 10-year-old relative.  GBI spokesman John Bankhead says 19-year-old Danny Lee Arnold (far right) and his 21-year-old brother Thomas (near right) were charged after DFCS reported the little girl was pregnant.  She has since had an abortion.  The abuse has allegedly been going on for years. The brothers' aunt, Lisa Arnold, is charged with incest; agents say they found evidence that she was sleeping with both of her nephews.

  • In KISS news about your health:  a study finds the Type 2 diabetes drug Avandia is tied to a higher risk of heart problems, strokes and deaths.  The FDA's Dr. David Graham led the review; he says the rival drug Actos is said to be safer.  Graham says the harms from Avandia are great enough to "put you in a hospital or a cemetery."  He says patients should ask their doctors to switch them to a safer alternative, like Actos.

  • The chairman of the Gwinnett County Commission is out of jail on a signature bond after a Monday night arrest for DUI.  Charlie Bannister was pulled over for an illegal lane change, after a tipster called 911 to report he was under the influence when he left a Lilburn restaurant. A deputy says Bannister failed a field sobriety test, but Bannister says the Breathalyzer showed he blew a .00.

  • A six-year-old Marietta girl survives a shark attack off the coast of Fripp Island, South Carolina.  Ella Morris' dad yanked her back after she got pulled under!  She got 22 stitches for the nine-inch bite.  She told her parents it wasn't the shark's fault--it was just an accident.

  • Having a baby isn't easy, but pregnant women and new moms can get a bit of help via their cell phones.  There's a free program called "text4baby" which sends women three weekly texts timed to a woman's due date or the birth date of the baby.  Sign up by texting the word "BABY" or "BEBE" for Spanish, to 511411.

  • Too sexy for the Citi?  A New York banker who says she was fired from Citibank because her male colleagues found her too alluring has now filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages.  Thirty-three-year-old single mom Debrahlee Lorenzana said her male bosses told her she shouldn't wear tight sweaters, pencil skirts, fitted suits or three-inch heels.  Lorenzana contends she couldn't help how she looks--but she was in a 2003 Discovery Channel documentary talking about her fourth breast enlargement, tummy tuck and lipo, and saying she wanted to look "like a Playboy Playmate."  This week, however, Lorenzana says one thing has nothing to do with the other.

  • Citrus.  Raspberry.  Vanilla.  Those flavored vodkas are so yesterday.  Now, there's a new smoked salmon-flavored vodka from an Alaska maker, which they say will make a great Bloody Mary.  Right now it's only available in Alaska and Texas.  Just last year, a Seattle distillery came out with a bacon-flavored vodka.

  • The Turner Field shuttle is part of the massive cuts MARTA is making as the transit agency cuts rail and bus service by 10% and eliminates more than 700 jobs.  The changes come by the end of September.

  • Senate Republicans and Solicitor General Elena Kagan are likely to face off over her objection to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" today.  As dean of Harvard Law, she restricted military recruiters because of discrimination against gays serving openly.

  • A group of celebrity chefs is teaming up to promote seafood from the Gulf of Mexico.  Top Chef judge and restaurateur Tom Colicchio says the Gulf is a big area and safe areas are still being fished. He says he plans to serve Louisiana seafood in his restaurants.  One of his Craft restaurants is in Buckhead.

  • A Texas man is accused of fatally beating his two-year-old stepdaughter because she wouldn't stop crying as he watched the U. S. play Ghana in the World Cup.  Police say Hector Castro tried to force a screw or bolt down her throat to make it look as if she choked to death.

  • Make it work!  Make it longer! Get ready for a bigger Project Runway come July.  When the new season debuts July 29, the show will be 90 minutes long!  This season expect ambulance visits for three aspiring designers who collapsed on set.  The 8th season returns to New York City.

  • The KISS 104.1 weather forecast:  partly cloudy, with a 50% chance of late-day showers or thunderstorms and a hot, muggy high of 90.
