Man Arrested for Concealing Teacher's Murder; "Soccer Mom" Burglar Busted; Pastor Takes On Demon School Mascot - KISS News Now!

A man is now accused of concealing the death of a Douglas County third-grade teacher. The body of 31-year-old Katie Parvu was found in her Douglasville town home Saturday after receiving a tip, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. Coroner Randy Daniel says Parvu, who taught at Sweetwater Elementary School, had been strangled. Landel Batiste of Douglasville is facing charges. Police claim Batiste found the victim's body around July 15 but walked out and locked the townhouse instead of notifying police. Batiste is being held without bond in Douglas County however he isn't linked to the crime.



Still no sign of a missing University of West Georgia student. 21-year-old Marcy Elliott was last seen a week ago getting out of her car in a parking lot of a Carrollton apartment complex. Elliott's family says there's been no activity on her debit card or cell phone since she disappeared.


Family and friends are mourning the loss of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright. After missing for 10 days, Wright's body was discovered near Memphis. Police are investigating his death. Wright played 13 years in the NBA with five different teams including the Atlanta Hawks and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers.


The so called "soccer mom" burglar has now been arrested. A Hall County homeowner had video-footage of the theft and that lead police to Rhonda Faye Rollinson. The "soccer mom" description came when police said earlier this week they were looking for female burglar who was fashionably dressed as she carried out her crimes.


A Warner Robins pastor is on a mission to change a high school mascot in his middle Georgia town. Rev. Donald Crosby is upset over the green-eyed, pitchfork-carrying demon that represents the Warner Robins High School football team. Rev. Crosby tells a Macon TV station he plans to move his 9th. grade son to a different school and is also collecting signatures in an effort to change the school mascot.


The governor of Michigan is asking the federal government for more resources to contain an oil spill in the Kalamazoo River. As many as one million gallons have leaked into the river so far. The spill is blamed on a ruptured pipeline. Meanwhile, it's day 101 that oil has been affecting the Gulf. There will be a meeting Thursday to decide what to do next about that spill.
