Texting while driving is now illegal in Georgia, no matter what age you are; for drivers under 18, even talking on the cell phone is prohibited. Violate the law and get a $150 fine, plus a point on your license. The Commanding Officer of the Georgia State Patrol, Maj. Mark McDonough, says troopers will wait until August 1 to strictly enforce the law while everyone gets used to it.
A personal tragedy for former Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham. His 2-year-old son, Christian, died of an apparent drowning in a backyard hot tub in Vegas. Cunningham, now a pastor, was out of town for an NFL pension physical. It's the same hot tub where the 47-year-old minister reportedly peforms baptisms. The investigation is continuing.
You've heard of snakes on a plane, but it's unlikely Samuel L. Jackson will be doing a movie about this new one: maggots on a plane. An Atlanta-to-Charlotte US Airways flight had to return to the gate here Monday because maggots were falling out of an overhead bin. For some reason, a passenger had brought a container of spoiled meat onto the plane. That person was put on another flight; everyone else got back on after the plane was cleaned, and the jet was fumigated after arrival in North Carolina. Here's video including some that a passenger took on the plane, plus interviews given to the Associated Press. Ick.

Tiger tells CBS News he'll be honest with his children about his scandal.

What's the world coming to when the Duke of Germany can't even take a shower in a stranger's home in peace? It wasn't a typical SWAT call when Roswell Police responded to a house on Hardscrabble Trail, where a woman had come home to find a man in her shower. She chatted up the stranger, and he told her he had a right to be scrubbing in her tub because he is "the Duke of Germany." He's charged with criminal trespassing. Police say he'll get a psychological evaluation.

It may be a long holiday weekend for some 1.3 million people who are out of work. For the third time in three weeks, Senate Republicans have blocked a vote on extending jobless benefits. Lawmakers disagree on how to pay for it--by adding to the debt or by using unspent TARP money.
