Three Shot in Sandy Springs; Tenth Storm Victim Found

Violence rocks an apartment complex in Sandy Springs.  There was gunfire overnight at the 550 Abernathy apartments, but it took almost an hour for someone to call police.  When the police arrived, investigators found two men had been shot and one was dead.  A third wounded man turned up at Northside Hospital.  He later died.  Police believe the shootings are related.


She'd gone out to celebrate her birthday. Today she's the 10th life lost in the Georgia floods.  Authorities in Douglas County have recovered the body of a 44 year old woman from Whitesburg near the Dog Creek Dam. An autopsy will confirm the remains are that of Debra Hooper.

A man is caught molesting a 13-year-old girl in a Stone Mountain Park bathroom. DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy Ruth Stringer was off-duty, but soon realized something wasn't right when she noticed a man in the ladies' room. Stringer yelled for someone to call 9-1-1. GBI Agent Sara Thomas detained Patrick Leithead until police arrived. He has been charged with aggravated child molestation.

It'll be a while longer before Snellville residents can buy a drink during Sunday brunch.  The City Council has put off plans for a November referendum on Sunday liquor sales.  The vote is being pushed back to January.

A new survey finds its better to share the keys to the family car than to buy your teen his or her own vehicle.  Research in the Journal Pediatrics says families who set clear rules and limits about driving produce teens who are half as likely to crash the family car, than those teens who get their own rides.

There is a warning from the Food and Drug Administration about Tamiflu and your children.  The FDA says doctors should prescribe the drug in milligrams and not teaspoons as the normally would to avoid confusion in dosing and to match up to the measured syringe in the drug's package.

Facebook pulls a poll asking if President Obama should be assassinated.  The social networking site says a user posted the survey using one of the site's third party applications.  Facebook says it is cooperating with the Secret Service investigation.

You don't have to be of drinking age to take off your clothes. The Georgia Supreme Court strikes down a City of Atlanta ordinance barring strip club employees under the age of 21.  Dancers at the Cheetah contested the 2007 law.  Their attorney, Alan Begner now says girls 18-20 now have full right-to-work status at Atlanta's Adult Clubs.  The still can't drink until they turn 21.

Despite assurances that it would be more "girls gone mild" than "Girls Gone Wild,"  the city of Rome has revoked permission to bring the event to town next month.  Rome's alcohol commission says the event would violate the cities adult entertainment ordinance.

To see a victim of the recession, just look next door.  New Census Bureau figures say some 26-thousand metro Atlanta families fell below the poverty level in 2008.  The families are made up of two parents and at least one child.  The increase is up 20-percent from the year before.

A tent city of homeless sex offenders in Marietta may have to move even though the location behind an office park is the only place that does not violate Georgia's sex offender law.  The nine men were told to go to the camp behind the Kennestone Circle Office Park by their parole officers.  The state Department of Transportation says the men may have to move.

Clayton County's mass transit system faces a budget crisis that's likely to cost commuters more money.  C-Tran is operated by MARTA on a budget developed by the county.  Officials say there's not enough money to operate the system.  A public hearing next week could result in service cuts, fare increases and a temporary surcharge that could cost riders more than 3 dollars to ride the bus.

CNN debuts a new iPhone application today with a number of new features including live news video and your opportunity to become a CNN iReporter.  The app, available today at the iTunes store will cost users $1.99.  CNN becomes the first of the major news organizations to charge users for content.
