The DEA reveals more this morning about a history-making meth bust this week in Duluth. Drug agents seized 350 pounds of crystal meth worth over $7.5 million from two houses there, and arrested four Mexican nationals.
Wrestler Chris Benoit's personal physician, Dr. Phil Astin, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in federal prison for writing illegal prescriptions to 19 patients. Benoit killed his wife and son in 2007 before killing himself, but a coroner didn't find a direct link between his steroid use and the murder/suicide. Federal prosecutors say two women's deaths were fully or partially linked to overdoses from Astin's prescriptions, and that his patients were getting hooked on them. Another wrestler says that some of his fellow performers and he were abusing the painkillers they got from Astin, but that the doctor was only trying to help.

Tennessee--a man is freed from prison after 22 years on death row. DNA on the victim wasn't his--even though prosecutors ran test after test. They now say they think he was involved but didn't act alone.
A suspect leads cops on a 90 mile-per-hour run for the border--straight to Taco Bell. The government reports that Social Security and Medicare are in danger of going broke at an even faster rate than expected. The recession is hurting both programs, which are financed by payroll taxes. Medicare is already paying out more money than it gets. And Social Security will be in the same position by 2016 -- a year sooner than expected.
You know how gross it can be opening up a refrigerator at the job; sometimes they smell like something died inside, a long time ago. Well, in San Jose California, they had to call in the HAZMAT team after an employee in the AT&T building decided to clean out an office fridge. Dozens of workers got nauseous--and seven were treated at the hospital.
Former Governor Roy Barnes says he'll announce by June 1 whether he's going to run again for Georgia's top office. Ousted by Republican Sonny Perdue in 2002, the 61-year-old Barnes has been flirting very publicly with whether to jump into the 2010 race to reclaim his old job. Most political experts agree that if Barnes enters the crowded field, he'd become the immediate front runner for his party's nomination. Of the three Democrats already running--including state Attorney General Thurbert Baker--Barnes says, "I'm looking for vision, and in that category, I haven't seen it yet. It's not that they're not good folks, it's just that--listen, we can do better."
