Anti-Tax Rally; Weigh More, Pay More; Kids Strain Marriages

By Veronica Waters

A crowd estimated at 15,000 holds an anti-tax "tea party" at the state capitol.  They complained of government spending and taxes, many complaining that their kids would be bankrupt, yelling about the IRS and the Obama administration.  It's two weeks after President Obama signed a tax cut which puts--on average--an extra $65 a month into a typical paycheck.  Government spending under President George W. Bush jumped by 42%.

The second-largest mall operator in America files Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  General Growth Properties runs North Point, Southlake, Cumberland and Perimeter malls in metro Atlanta.

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle drops out of the race for governor; he has to have spinal surgery.  The Republican says he'll seek re-election to the #2 spot.

If there's more of you to love, you may be paying more to fly United Airlines.  United is now enforcing a policy that says if you're too fat, you'll have to buy a second seat; obese passengers could be bumped if the flight is sold out.  United says it's responding to hundreds of complaints from fliers who had to squeeze next to someone obese--like fliers who can't fasten their seat belts with just one extender, or put the armrests down.  Eight other airlines--including Delta and Continental--have similar policies.

President Obama heads to Mexico today, as America steps up aid to fight deadly gun trafficking, much of it fueled with guns from the United States.

Two years after a fatal bus crash on the I-75 HOV ramp at Northside Drive in Atlanta, the DOT begins installing new signage and markings.  A Michigan bus had a near miss at the same intersection about two weeks ago.

No classes today at Virginia Tech; they're marking the second anniversary of the worst mass shooting in modern history with a 3.2-mile walk/run around campus.  32 people were killed by a grad student.

Having kids doesn't just drain your wallet--it strains your marriage.  90% of couples in a survey by Texas A&M and University of Denver admit--they were less happy after the birth of their first child.  Couples with more money tend to survive the post-baby stress better.  Researchers say it's normal for marital satisfaction to decrease over time--but it just happens faster after a baby enters the picture.

Couple new reality shows in the mix:  Michael Vick's expected to be paid $600,000 to film a documentary showing him "making amends," with TV cameras starting to follow him the day he finishes his federal dogfighting sentence.

Keshia Knight Pulliam is filming a show for Oxygen Network about what it's like to be young, rich, single and shacking up.  She and boyfriend Kaseem Penn are doing the series for Oxygen Network.  No air date yet for "Keshia and Kaseem."

Thirty minutes or it's free.  Oh--also no charge if the cheese comes out of the delivery guy's nose.  Two North Carolina Domino's pizza workers face food-tampering charges after video of them at work comes out on YouTube.  The guy stuffs cheese up his nose, then puts it on a sandwich; he waves meat under his butt, breaks wind, and puts it on the bread too, as a female worker eggs him on and narrates the video, discussing their "secret ingredients."  Domino's fired them both--but says there's no evidence any customers actually got served that food.

The KISS 104.1 weather forecast:  partly to mostly sunny high 67, lows tonight 39-45.  Tomorrow, mostly sunny, high 69. Saturday, increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, high 69, and low 54.
