(Monday, December 15, 2008) -- For Brian Nichols, it's life in prison plus another 485 years with no chance for parole. And Nichols may face the death penalty after all. There is a chance federal prosecutors may bring a death penalty charge against him in federal court. For now, the question is where will Nichols serve his sentence. Judge James Bodiford is recommending that NIchols be sent to Supermaxx, the maximum security prison in Colorado.
A Georgia lawmaker plans to introduce legislation next month that would change the way juries reach a verdict in death penalty cases. The move is a response to the Fulton County courthouse shooting trial, in which the jury deadlocked over the death sentence for Brian Nichols.
