Recently, there was a shooting at a middle school in the Atlanta area...a kid shooting another kid. The question...Where did he get the gun and how in the world did he get it on campus? A young, beautiful girl that performed at President Obama's Inauguration; shot dead. In the wrong place at the wrong time?? Sandy Hook Elementary, another tragedy.  Now the marketplace is  introducing " Bulletproof Backbacks"...What do all of these have in common? GUNS!! Now I'm not here to preach about gun control. Matter of fact, I'm not here to preach at all. I recently watched The 44th NAACP Image Awards. Sidney Poitier presented Harry Belafonte an Image award during the show, in which Mr. Belafonte used his time on stage to speak to the black community's lack of involvement in this gun debate. He spoke about guns killing blacks, the prison system, where is the black leadership, the black church, etc. Towards the end of the show, Jamie Foxx won "The NAACP Entertainer Of The Year Award"...He used his time on stage to humbly praise and talk about the two movie icons (Sidney & Harry)... He praised black people and how talented we are..."Black Love"...That's what I saw and heard...He made me feel so proud at that moment...loving one another as opposed to hating and killing one another...I say all of this to say...Where are we? What are we doing? What happened to loving ourselves as well as ALL people? What happened to RESPECT? Young people, let's realize this experience that we call LIFE...it is NOT A VIDEO GAME! THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! These are just my thoughts...my moments...WHAT DO YOU THINK??
