Blair Underwood, who directed the film, was out of the country and could not be in Pittsburgh for the premiere.

How many of you remember the show that aired from 1967-1975 starring Raymond Burr and the paralyzed Chief of Detectives? "Ironside" is being reworked and it's coming back to NBC with (drumroll......) Blair Underwood set to play Robert T. Ironside. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill but I'm sure Blair can pull it off.

Will you give Blair a shot as Ironside? It's great to see these networks begin to develop real shows with real storylines and African American leads. CONGRATS BLAIR!!

I know one thing, the intro used to scare me to death when I was a kid (I still cringe when I see him get shot by the sniper) but the music is HOT.  The intro music to the original show was done by Quicy Jones.

Robert T. Ironside is mounting a comeback. NBC has given a pilot order to a reboot of the 1967 detective drama Ironside to star Blair Underwood. The new Ironside, written by Mike Caleo and produced by Universal TV, centers on a tough, sexy and acerbic police detective (Underwood) relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting who is hardly limited by his disability as he pushes and prods his hand-picked team to solve the most difficult cases in the city. The project originally had David Semel attached to direct and executive produce but he is no longer involved and just signed on to direct/executive produce CBS’ drama pilot Intelligence. Caleo executive produces Ironside with Teri Weinberg of Yellow Brick Road and John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment. I hear NBC’s pickup hinged on Underwood playing the lead.
