I know 99.99% of you have slow danced to the Major Harris classic, "Love Won't Let Me Wait" whether it was Luther Vandross on vocals or the 'Philly Soul' stylings of Major Harris himself. We can thank Major Harris for introducing that song to the world. The Delfonics singer passed away Friday at the age of 65. Please keep his family lifted during this very difficult time.

Major Harris has died at the age of 65 in Richmond. MSN reported on Friday Nov.9. that the former Delfonics singer's death was confirmed by Harris' sister Catherine Thomas.

Thomas stated that Major was rushed to the hospital on Friday where he later died from congestive heart and lung failure.

Harris was a former member of the 1970's "Philadelphia sound" soul group the Delfonics, and had a Top Ten single "Love Won't Let Me Wait", which peaked at #5 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1975. As a native of Richmond, Major Harris grew up in a musical family, with his father a talented guitarist and his mother the lead singer in the church choir.

Harris' sister Catherine shared a few memories of major stating that when he was in his teens, he was tall for his age and was able to get into clubs without much trouble to watch the musicians perform.

"He always appeared to be older, which gave him a lot of ins to a lot of older places," Thomas joked.
