The Queen of Soul is mad.

By Art Terrell

ReRe's angered by the reporting of various news outlets that her invitation to Whitney's funeral was revoked and she's speaking out.

Aretha Franklin has had enough of the speculation and accusations surrounding her absence from Whitney Houston’s funeral, and she’s speaking out.

“Extra TV,' The New York Post and Newsday (New York) should stop the BS. Cissy Houston and I have been longtime friends for almost 50 years,” Aretha said in a statement.

Since Aretha failed to attend Whitney’s funeral Saturday, but then showed up hours later at a Radio City Music Hall concert, media outlets have suggested that an earlier interview (Aretha stated that Whitney had left her New Jersey home for the music business with a good head on her shoulders, but that something happened along the way that led her to drug abuse) had caused Cissy to revoke her invitation.

Aretha addressed the comment she made in her recent statement.

“With respect to the 'Today Show,' my entire statement was pretaped. However, the 'Today Show' did not air the part of my statement, which said, ‘This is no reflection on Cissy or Nippy's upbringing.’ Knowing Cissy as well as I do, I know Whitney left home right and properly. I was generalizing and it was a well-intended statement for any young adult coming into the music industry. I was not speaking of anyone specifically.”

Aretha continued to chastise the outlets for their “irresponsible and inaccurate” reporting. Then she warned the public not to believe everything that’s reported.
