Bertie County, NC is a very small community that is very close knit.  They have been recovering from October 2010 floods and were slammed by tornadoes on Saturday, April 16 killing 11 members of the community.  Please lets help do our part in helping these people recover.  Many have lost everything including loved ones.  The people of the community are in desperate need of food, clothing, shelter, drinks, toiletries, laundry soap, etc.  The following links are outlets of volunteers, donation stations and financial assistance.  Let’s pull together as a community and help our fellow Americans.

Checks should be made to 'Bertie County Tornado Relief Fund' OR you can go to www.redcross.org and put in the zip code 27983, the funds donated will go to that local chapter.

Volunteers from the Greensboro branch of the Red Cross are taking donations in the WFMY News 2 studio today (4/19).

To donate, call (336) 680-1000. The phone lines opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday and will remain open until 11:30 p.m..
